Product Selection

What is the difference between Premium, Standard, and Mechanical Grade PTFE Fabric?

Premium Grade PTFE Fabric

Highest PTFE coating weight and performance. Offers superior release, longer wear life, and maximum temperature and chemical resistance for demanding industrial and food processing applications.

Standard Grade PTFE Fabric

Balanced performance and cost. Provides excellent non-stick release, heat resistance, and durability for most general heat sealing, packaging, and manufacturing uses.

Mechanical Grade PTFE Fabric

Lower coating weight designed for mechanical strength and cost efficiency. Ideal for applications where strength and dimensional stability are more important than maximum release performance.

What Temperature Can PTFE Coated Fiberglass Tape Handle?

PTFE coated fiberglass tape is designed for high-heat industrial applications and typically withstands continuous temperatures up to 500°F (260°C) with silicone adhesive and up to 350°F (177°C) with acrylic adhesive.

These tapes maintain excellent release properties, low friction, and chemical resistance even in demanding heat sealing, packaging, and manufacturing environments.

What is the difference between Silicone and Acrylic Adhesive on PTFE Tape?

Silicone Adhesive PTFE Tape

Best for high-temperature applications up to 500°F (260°C). Provides excellent release, flexibility, and performance on heat sealing and packaging equipment.

Acrylic Adhesive PTFE Tape

Ideal for lower temperature applications up to 350°F (177°C). Offers strong adhesion, improved abrasion resistance, and better performance on high-speed equipment.

Can I Get PTFE Tape Without a Release Liner?

Yes. PTFE tape without a release liner (self-wound PTFE tape) is available for many applications. This option allows for easier installation, reduced waste, and faster roll changes while still delivering excellent non-stick release, heat resistance, and durability.

What is PTFE Zone Tape and What Is It Used For?

PTFE Zone Tape is a pressure-sensitive PTFE coated fiberglass tape used to protect high-heat “seal zones” on packaging and heat sealing equipment.

It is applied to heat sealing jaws, band sealers, impulse sealers, and L-bar sealers to create a durable non-stick, heat-resistant release surface that prevents film from sticking, improves seal quality, and extends equipment life.

How Is UHMW Tape Different from PTFE Tape?

UHMW tape is designed for abrasion resistance and impact protection, while PTFE tape is designed for high heat resistance and non-stick release.

  • UHMW Tape: Excellent wear resistance, low friction, ideal for sliding surfaces, chutes, and guides.

  • PTFE Tape: Handles temperatures up to 500°F (260°C) and provides superior release for heat sealing, packaging, and high-temperature applications.

Custom Fabrication & Belting

How do I specify a custom PTFE conveyor belt?

Email our PTFE specialists your project specifications at ptfe@lanmarinc.com for a fast, custom quote.

What splice types are available for PTFE fabric belts?

Lanmar Inc. offers four PTFE fabric belt splice options — Alligator, Overlap, Butt, and Fabric Flap Over — each hand-made to order for your specific conveying application. Edge reinforcement, dot guide tracking, and grommet guiding options are also available. Contact Lanmar with your belt specifications to find the right splice, edging, and tracking solution.

Can you match or cross-reference a competitor’s product?

Lanmar’s PTFE fabric belts are made to order to customer specifications (dimensions, splice type, edge reinforcement, tracking options, etc.), a standard part-number cross-reference isn’t available.

Can you fabricate custom die-cut PTFE parts from a drawing or sample?

Lanmar Inc. fabricates custom die-cut PTFE parts to your exact specifications. Simply provide a drawing, sample, or dimensions and Lanmar’s team will produce precise, ready-to-install PTFE fabric parts for your application.

Technical & Applications

Is PTFE fabric safe for food contact applications?

Lanmar’s PTFE coated fiberglass fabrics and belts are engineered for food processing and cooking applications, offering a non-stick, heat-resistant surface that meets the demands of food packaging lines, heat sealers, and conveyor systems.

Can PTFE coated fiberglass tape be used in aerospace applications?

Yes. Lanmar PTFE coated fiberglass tape can be used in aerospace applications for wire harness protection, helping shield cables from abrasion, heat, and wear in demanding environments.

What is the best tape for plasma spray masking?

Lanmar’s #775-8R silicone coated fiberglass tape, designed for thermal spray, flame spray, and plasma spray applications where high heat resistance and clean masking are required.

What type of PTFE fabric is best for vacuum bag molding / composite layup?

Our #66 line is specifically manufactured as a porous grade. It has a lighter PTFE coating that allows controlled airflow and gas release, ideal for vacuum bag molding, composite layup, and drying applications.
